Instagram?

So the infamous Instagram app has come to the Droids!
YAY!

At first I didn't like it.

Well at first my Instagram app would only let me use 4 of the many filters. I didn't really like any of the 4 filters, and then all of the sudden it started letting me scroll through and then it started letting me use all of the filters! WOO HOO

So now, I've been taking pictures with the well acclaimed app. I still don't like certain things about the app but it is fun to use.

I have seen a few iPhone people get a little angry about us Droid people using the Instagram app.. Since it was an app that was solely for the apple interfaces and whatnot but is now available for everyone... the iPeople are mad.
whoooo carrreeeessss.
It's an app, it was happening, we all knew it.

What app I'm currently obsessed with is called "Draw Something"
You pick one of three things the game gives you an option to draw from and then your partner gets to guess what the heck you are drawing.
If I could take a screenshot of my own phone I would take a sweet picture of the awesome stuff I've drawn for my friends!
(I can draw a really awesome Gandalf)

But this one website, Shit Someone Drew is really awesome. People post on here there greatest (or more hilarious) pieces of art they have done on Draw Something.  There is no way that people were drawing these things on their phones. (They must be on their tablets!)
so not fair.
Between tweeting, Draw Something, Instagram, oh and now I've gotten into Reddit... My free time not studying is spent on the computer laughing at the incredulous people of the world.

Interesting Article:
Undergraduates at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland have found a substance that they have devised to fill potholes with. It acts like a liquid when nothing touches it, but when a car touches it/runs over it, it turns into a complete solid.

Did you know that the food that you eat does affect your mood? Eating meat will affect your mood negatively. Veggies make you happy! :)

Busy Bee

So I've been a little busy lately.

Last week was a bit of a mess for me!

(Last) Monday I had my first Experimental Paper due with my group. We got it done and turned in before it was due at 9:30am that morning.
I was still really tired from Megacon and the festivites afterwards, but I made it work!

Tuesday I was in the library finishing up my short article that was due that night for my Magazine Writing class. I was rather proud of my article. I wrote about the Driftless Region in Wisconsin and I really hope that I can put it up here. I'm going to email him and ask him if I can post it here.

Wednesday I had a bit of a free day-ish. I went to school came home for lunch and one (1!) hour of Zelda:Twilight Princess - my latest obsession - before heading back on campus to study study study for my Neuropsychology exam that would ensue on Thursday.

Thursday came, I meant to get up early but I ended up sleeping in and then stayed on campus until after midnight.

Good thing too, I got an 88 on my first Neuropsych exam.

whoop whoop!!

I came home to not be able to sleep, I was stressing over the quiz in my Research Methods in Psychology quiz (which I found out the next day was the hardest quiz according to the professor of the semester).
So instead of going to sleep and getting up early to study, I was up until 4 with my roommates decorating, and hanging out.

I ended up getting up early anyways, studied hard and it really was the hardest quiz to date.

Friday night my roommates held a party at our house. Our friend Tim is moving away to North Carolina and we held a going away party for him!

I am very sad to see him go but, such is life!

Saturday I headed out to my friend Sarah's house to watch my friends play D&D (Dungeons & Dragons), I've never played before but I wanted to see how it went down.
To be honest, it was interesting and it was kinda funny what they took seriously and what they got mad about. I don't think I'll actually play, I don't take it seriously and what I do they find funny. But I think I'll still go when they play just to see who lives or dies!

but guess what.
Spring Break is next week!

"You're a brave woman"

A friend of mine recently told me this bit of information.
This probably doesn't make sense unless you know that I went to Megacon.
Alone.

Now don't get your panties in a twist, I wasn't completely alone. There was at least several hundered other people there too!

I just didn't happen to know the majority of those people!

I wasn't always planning on going to Megacon, and my decision to go was a spur of the moment kind of thing, and I'm glad I made that decision!

If you have no idea what Megacon is, then let me explain it to you.

Megacon is a large (huge) convention here in my lovely Orlando that gears towards the "geek" in all of us. For me it was all about the comics, and general science fiction genre that was amidst the crowd. But for others, it was about Anime, Manga, and cosplay!

Don't know what cosplay is?
Geesh, keep up will you!?

Cosplay means costume play. People in cosplay are dressed up as characters. Here are a few of the cosplay characters that I saw that I particularly enjoyed:

But by far, my favorite thing I saw all day was the kids in cosplay.

Unfortunately I didn't get the best thing I saw on film.
When I was by the Star Wars stuff, I saw a little (about 5/6 aged) Bounty Hunter start a 'fight' with a Storm Trooper.
-Side Note: A lot of cosplay goers played fight all day and this was normal, so don't be alarmed.

What was even more amazing than seeing two little Bounty Hunter and Storm Troopers pointing their guns at each other while jumping around was seeing two adult Bounty Hunter and Storm Trooper come rushing up to back up their appropriate partner.

I about died of the cuteness of it all.

Moments like that, I curse my 5'2'' because I just couldn't get inside the little circle formed around them just barely see it for myself. I'll just have to cherish the memory forever.

Even though I didn't get that, I did get some cautie pauties!

Now don't be fooled by my self assurance here.

I had absolutely no idea what at least 70% of what people were dressed up as.
(Didn't stop me from taking their picture though!)

Like this, I have no idea what she is, I just thought she looked cool:

But here and there I saw things that I was ecstatic to see.

I was standing in line for food - which was the worst idea ever, I should have brought a sandwhich or something - but I was standing there and I saw something rush past me that literally made me do a double take.

I saw a harnessed kid.

I saw a skitter!

If you don't know what that is, then I'll tell you!

A skitter/harnessed kid is from the hit TNT tv show Falling Skies. To make it short, Aliens come and wreck our shit up. They start stealing our kids and enslaving them for their evil!
I encountered such a child.

I hope he makes it okay.

Okay, back to reality...

One funny guy I encountered was the Hulk.
I'll tell you what, I saw this guy everywhere!
And this is kinda hard considering I searched for my friends the entire six or seven hours I was there and NEVER found them.
Yet I saw this Hulk at least five times in five different places. It was crazy. Every time I saw him I busted out laughing cause he was just so happy, he was grinning and flexing. He was just happy as a clam.

I think that my first Megacon was a little overwhelming for me. I was by myself, so the only people I talked to were the people I took pictures of. To be honest, most of them were in character so they didn't want to talk, and the ones that did were either:
A: Creepy
B: Rude
But I kept at it.
One guy was pretty nice though!

I wanted to take a picture with Stan Lee, but I missed the time frame. I was told they were sold out, but I guess they were just trying to get rid of me.

I was really surprised at how rude and how understaffed alot of the bigger booths were. Maybe it was just me, but some of the big booths had no one (employee-wise) to be seen and people were just mingling...

Some girl dropped money out of her wallet, I watched it fall and stopped her before she got too far and informed her. As I was walking away I overheard a guy say "Damn I was gonna grab that ten."

Um, really? What has happened to the world.

Moving on...

I didn't understand one thing in particular.

People were getting tattoos in the open there. Like I could just touch them they were so close. NASTY! I would never get tattooed at a place like that! That is so bad! Ugh. The tattoo artists were nice, I looked at a few portfolios, they have decent stuff but the fact that they were there tattooing just makes me lose so much respect for them.
If you want to go get a tattoo, don't do it while you are at Megacon! People are crazy.

Overall though, I really enjoyed myself. I was disappointed in things here and there, but I had a blast. I was so surprised when the hours flew by. I felt like I had been there for about thirty minutes.

As I was leaving the Con I almost walked through a little dance thing that was happening. I didn't understand (which was the theme of the day for me) but I still thought it was great.

As you can see from the video, I start out iffy, but immediately find cute-ness!

Here is a link to my pictures!
But here's a slideshow too :) I took about 300 pictures, but after editing, and deleting blurry photos it got down to about 120. I had a lot of doubles and for some reason about 50 blurry photos that would've been fun. But oh well! Hope you enjoy!
